Summary:

To survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness…

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.

Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for… again.

My Thoughts

I freaking loved this book, it was amazing!!  I love how their were humans, vampires and rabids (zombie like creatures) all in the same world!  I really liked the aspect of the vampires being in control and ruling different cities.

Our main character, Allison, had to choose between life or death, being changed into a vampire or dying.  I mean, seriously if you were in that situation you would do the same thing!  So, you go girl!!  Allison had to learn to be a vampire and she literally hates every minute of it, because she considered vampires monsters and now she is essentially a monster.

When she flees the city, and she runs into a bunch of humans, she can't believe there were any other humans in the world besides in the city she use to live in.  The humans let her join their group and so therefore she must act like a human, so they don't find out that she's actually a vamp.  One of the guys, Zeke, they start liking each other.  But shes a vamp and he's a human, it will never work out.  Plus, he doesn't know shes a vamp.

And man, that ending WOW!!  I feel soooooo sorry for Allison, poor girl!  If only she wasn't a vampire!!  UGH!!!  Anyways, I loved this book and I totally can't wait to get into the next book in the series.
