My Thoughts
Well, what do I even say about this book. It was crazy, messed up, insane, etc. The book was easy to follow and understand what was going on. The world-building in the book was very interesting and I definitely have never read anything like it before. Each girl was a different kind of butterfly in the Gardener's garden.
I really liked Maya's character she was very strong and maternal to the other girls. She definitely had a hard life right from the beginning and it was sad to see her in the situation that she was in. She cared for a lot of girls and become pretty close to some of them.
The Gardener was a twisted and screwed up man. He definitely lived in a different world from the rest of us. I thought it was interesting/strange he named all the girls by different names and tattooed butterfly wings on their backs.
The Gardener's youngest son Desmond, I kinda liked him. I love how he finally came to terms and called the police...finally!! Maya and Desmond had a unique relationship.
I did have one problem with the book, I didn't like how it was narrated in a police interrogation when Maya was telling her story in the garden. But other than that I enjoyed the mystery of the book.
